About Kinnaur
Kinnaur follows the Sutlej upstream, with orchards on one side and sheer gorge on the other. It is one of the most dramatic drives in Himachal.
It is also the year-round approach towards Spiti, which makes it a natural leg of longer journeys rather than a single destination.
Getting around Kinnaur
- The old Hindustan-Tibet road is narrow in stretches with limited passing places.
- Weather and landslides can affect the route; check conditions before travelling.
- Sangla and Chitkul are a side valley off the main road.
- Distances take longer than they look — plan conservatively.
